The Japanese ritual of going to a public bathhouse dates back to the 17th Century, when private bathing was non existent at home. Our bathhouses consists of three distinctive spaces using traditional wooden construction techniques, each offering a separate degree of intimacy in the communal space. Light, sound and tightness of space come together to play on intimacy.
This project was developed though the means of a 1:20 model, and handed in strictly as a 2-minute film, in collaboration with the Hochschule fur Film und Fernsehen München. Below you will find the film, as well as stills from the movie
